Happy Gilmore 2 ā€“ starring Adam Sandler ā€“ is going at some speed, with the movie set to land in spring of 2025. More here.

In a different story today, we took a brief look at the sizeable production length of Guillermo del Toroā€™s Frankenstein, a project which shot for nine months following decades of struggle on del Toroā€™s part to get the film made.

At the other end of the spectrum then is Happy Gilmore 2, that has whizzed through all stages of production and is now rapidly heading towards a spring 2025 release.

Adam Sandler will return to the role of Happy Gilmore, a failed hockey player who finds himself becoming an unlikely hero at a new sport: golf. The film was one of a string of 90s hits for Sandler as he established himself as a bankable comedy star. The film grossed $41m from a $12m budget and went on to sell many a DVD in the years after too.

Happy Gilmore 2 was given the green light back in May, began shooting this month and according to a report from The Gunz Show (via Dark Horizons), will release on Netflixā€™s streaming platform in March or April of next year. Thatā€™s not an official release date by the way, rather an accidental slip of the tongue from John Daly, one of the real-life golfers who is set to appear in the film.

If accurate, thatā€™s a pretty quick path to production for the project and spells out just how trusted Sandler is by the Netflix brass.

Ever since Dan Lin took over Netflixā€™s film division back in February of this year, weā€™ve seen several projects (such as The Old Guard 2) getting slowed down whilst Lin reassesses how they fit into the companyā€™s new direction. That doesnā€™t appear to be the case with Happy Gilmore 2 which is hurtling towards release.

The cast for this one looks fun: Along with Sandler, Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen return from the 1996 original and will be joined by Nick Swardson, Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Travis Kelce and the loose-lipped John Daly.

Murder Mysteryā€™s Kyle Newacheck directs.

Weā€™ll bring you more updates on this one as we hear them, but at the rate its going, Happy Gilmore 2 will be out in the world before weā€™ve managed to draft another paragraph.
