Weāve got hold of a few more details of the new Anaconda movie, with slight spoilers ā and new casting information too.
Potential spoilers lie ahead for the new Anaconda.
Sony is investing more and more in its planned reboot of the Anaconda movie series, which continues to take shape.
Debuting in 1997 ā with Jon Voight’s sneer and a massive snake, all under the watchful eye of director Luis Llosa – Anaconda was a solid hit. Still, its subsequent sequels and crossovers never troubled the inside of a cinema.
However, the new reboot – which has been active since early 2020 – is heading for the big screen, and has attracted a notably comic cast.
Jack Black and Paul Rudd were early additions, and joining now is Daniela Melchior (recently seen in another remake, Road House) in what Deadline reports is in an ‘unknown’ role. We’ve got a bit of info on that, however.
The new film’s spin is that it exists in our world, where the characters played by Paul Rudd and Jack Black set about doing a low budget remake of the 1997 movie, and head off to shoot it. It’s unclear whether original cast members will return, but we understand that they’ve at least been mentioned. We won’t name names as we understand that they hadn’t signed on earlier this month, but we suspect they well. Likely in cameo roles.
As for Melchior’s role, she’s going to be an explorer in the movie, and she’s going to be roped into the planned remake of Anaconda. Expect to see her alongside Rudd and Black for a good portion of the movie.
Tom Gormican is directing. He directed and co-wrote The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent with Kevin Etten, and the pair penned this Anaconda script too.
Filming is expected to get underway shortly on the new Anaconda, with a release date more than likely at some point in 2025. More news on the film as we hear it, of course.
