The Stylist was a successful short horror movie of a few years’ back – and now it’s turning into a feature.
Made back in 2016, The Stylist is a short film from writer, director and producer Jill Gevargizan (working alongside fellow writers Eric Havens and Eric Stolze). It’s a film about a woman called Claire, who works as a hair stylist. But when the right target sits in the chair in front of her, she, er, does more than cut their hair.
The film then takes a further turn when a regular client by the name of Olivia asks Claire to do her hair for her wedding. Events ensue.
Gevargizan always envisaged making The Stylist as a feature-length movie, and now, three years on, that’s just what she’s doing. She’s joined in her endeavour by her star and co-producer Najarra Townsend, along with the likes of Kyle Clarke and Robert Patrick Stern.
And she needs your help! She’s taken to Kickstarter to fund the film, and she’s made a lot of progress too. At the moment, she’s crossed £20,000 of the £37,000 she needs to get the film done, with just over a week of fundraising yet.
Here’s the original short film to whet your appetite – best not watch this one at work, though…
And you can support the Kickstarter here.
The aim is for the movie to be completed for May 2021.
