He’s not going to be Superman anymore, and there’s no way back to the world of The Witcher for Henry Cavill either. It’s hard not to feel a modicum of sympathy for Henry Cavill this week. As we’ve charted here, just a month or two ago it looked like he was finally going to return as Superman in a follow-up of sorts to Man Of Steel. However, one of the two overseers of DC Universe movies – James Gunn – has confirmed that Superman on the big screen is set to be recast, and is flying in a different direction. Cavill had stepped away from his starring role in the Netflix success The Witcher ahead of an expected return to his blue tights. Liam Hemsworth has been confirmed as taking over the role of Geralt in the show for its upcoming fourth season, and it’s looking like Cavill has found himself without a chair when the music stops. The speculation linking him with being the next James Bond looks to be on the optimistic side too, with Eon widely expected to go for a younger 007, who they can deploy for the next decade or two. Cavill will, hopefully, land on his feet with some juicy roles too.
