Selected members of the press (not us) saw a brand new trailer for the second season of House Of The Dragon.
It’s a big day for TV news. The Last Of Us season 2 is going into production, White Lotus is delayed… The HBO presentation was full of ups and downs but one snippet of information we now have is that House Of The Dragon season 2 will grace our screens next summer, as reported by Variety.
That’s right, House Targaryen are back and we can guarantee there will be more scheming and gossiping in season 2. While other HBO shows were hit hard by the writers’ and actors’ strikes, House Of The Dragon has been able to continue production.
The show had finished scripts to work from and their actors are under an Equity contract in the UK rather than a SAG-AFTRA one, which makes House Of The Dragon one of the only major TV shows that hasn’t faced severe delays.
While HBO boss Casey Bloys didn’t give the show a proper release date yet, he did promise an “early summer” 2024 premiere. Bloys also showed a trailer for press attending the event, but the contents of that trailer are still embargoed. So there you have it; there is a trailer, but we don’t know what it looks like. Bloys also said he expected another Game Of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, to shoot next spring, depending on the still-unresolved actors’ strike.
Season 1 of House Of The Dragon smashed all ratings and was renewed for a second season a week after the first episode premiered.
Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno and Rhys Ifans are all returning to their roles for season 2. New faces joining the cast are Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower and Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull.
