Jennifer Lawrence is reportedly starring in The Wives, a murder mystery that takes inspiration from a certain reality TV franchise. More on the story below.

Apple Original Films has acquired the rights to The Wives, a new murder mystery film that will reportedly star Jennifer Lawrence, as reported by Variety. Lawrence will also be producing as will A24 along with Apple Studios.

Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, who are best known for writing Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical as well as their play Circle Jerk, will be penning the script. The project doesn’t currently have a director attached, but we’re sure that news will follow imminently.

Plot details are also currently under wraps, but we do know that the film will take inspiration from The Real Housewives reality TV franchise. Based on that, Lawrence will most likely be sipping on a lot of wine and feuding with fellow housewives in the film. The Wives is one of several high profile murder mystery films on the way; other examples include The Thursday Murder Club, which recently added David Tennant to its starry cast, and Wake Up Dead Man, writer-director Rian Johnsonā€™s latest Knives Out sequel.

Apple Films has a busy summer ahead of it as it gears up for the releases of Fly Me To The Moon and The Instigators. The latter brings Matt Damon and director Doug Liman together after 22 years. The pair worked on The Bourne Identity together in 2002, a film which launched the Bourne franchise.

Apple is also behind Joseph Kosinski’s extremely expensive Formula 1 film, starring Brad Pitt. The film recently got a June 2025 release date confirmed and we recently asked producer Jerry Bruckheimer about the film’s progress. You can read his comments here.

The Wives, however, does not have a release date yet, but we’ll make sure to let you know when it does.
