Itā€™s day one of filming on Rian Johnsonā€™s next Knives Out mystery, Wake Up Dead Man, and the filmmaker has shared a photo of Daniel Craig to prove it.

Daniel Craig is both a good actor and a good wearer of suits. As a reminder, Rian Johnson has shared a photo from the set of Wake Up Dead Man, showing Craigā€™s detective Benoit Blanc looking dapper in his latest bit of tailoring.

It also looks as though Johnsonā€™s latest Knives Out murder mystery will see Craig sport a rather different hairstyle: longer, cleanly parted, like a blonde Brett Anderson out of 1990s indie rock outfit, Suede.

The photo commemorates the first day of shooting on Wake Up Dead Man, which now features a huge ensemble cast that would put your typical Marvel film to shame. In here youā€™ll find (deep breath) Josh Oā€™Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Josh Brolin, Thomas Haden Church, and probably some others weā€™ve forgotten about.

Filming is currently underway in London, and the mystery is arguably among the highest-profile productions Netflix currently has on the horizon. Certainly, itā€™s worth a lot of money to the streaming giant; Netflix paid $400m for the rights to Knives Out, with the deal being for Rian Johnson and his production company, T-Street Productions, to make two sequels to the 2019 original. Weā€™ve already had one ā€“ 2022ā€™s Glass Onion ā€“ and Wake Up Dead Man is the second.

If itā€™s another ratings hit for Netflix, weā€™ll no doubt see more, assuming Daniel Craig wants to keep playing his keen-eyed, southern fried detective. Given that he was given a reported $100m salary to play Blanc in Glass Onion and Wake Up Dead Man, itā€™s likely that he will.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will stream on Netflix in 2025.
