The Party’s Just Beginning has been confirmed for UK release in December, with Karen Gillan both starring and directing.
As well as appearing in Jumanji: The Next Level, Karen Gillan has another project in cinemas this coming December – and it just happens to be her directorial debut.
She takes the lead role in – and directs – The Party’s Just Beginning, that played on the festival circuit following its premiere last year. The movie co-stars Lee Pace, Matthew Beard and Paul Higgins, and it’s a coming of age story that’s now been picked up for UK release by Blue Finch Film Releasing.
It’ll be releasing the movie in UK cinemas on December 1st, ahead of a video on demand release on December 11th.
Ahead of that, here’s a trailer for the movie, and the synopsis for it is underneath this…
And here’s that synopsis…
In the bleak Scottish winter, witty and sarcastic Liusaidh (Karen Gillan) is spiralling into a reckless, drunken, mid-twenties crisis. Filling her days and nights with casual joyless sex, junk food and a belief in ‘the power of positive drinking’ she’s plagued by visions of her best friend Alistair (Matthew Beard) throwing himself from a bridge. With bittersweet memories of the time spent with her friend, Liusaidh struggles to connect with anyone until a chance encounter with a stranger from out of town (Lee Pace).
Tackling a range of mental health and gender issues with a jet-black streak of Scottish humour, Karen Gillan crafts a bold, challenging and finely observed comedy-drama in this must-see debut work.
More on the film in due course.
