Keanu Reeves is toying with the thought of helming the adaptation of the comic book BRZRKR, which he wrote.  Keanu Reeves continues to be an omnipresent feature of our lives, but he may soon be taking on the mantle of director again. As well as reappearing as John Wick in the future, he’ll also be returning as Johnny Silverhand in the upcoming expansion for the video game, Cyberpunk 2077. And that goes without mentioning his recent turn as Batman in the DC League of Super Pets movie. Not content with ruling all forms of media, Reeves is now considering directing BRZRKR, the planned movie based on a comic book series that Reeves wrote. The Boom! Studios character BRZRKR follows the  story of an immortal warrior, and was not only co-written by Reeves, but the lead character happens to bear his likeness too. It was reported back in March of last year, when the comic book made its debut, that Netflix had snapped up the rights to the comic book and was planning on making a movie  – starring Reeves of course – as well as an anime series based upon the following premise: ‘BRZRKR follows “an immortal warrior’s 80,000-year fight through the ages. The man known only as ‘B’ is half-mortal and half-god, cursed and compelled to violence … even at the sacrifice of his sanity. But after wandering the earth for centuries, B may have finally found a refuge — working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, B will be granted the one thing he desires — the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence … and how to end it. Reeves has been chatting about the project, suggesting that he may also direct it because of his level of investment in it. Comparing it to his other directorial outing, Man Of Tai Chi, Reeves said: “I know how it’s a lot of work, but the film that I directed, Man Of Tai Chi, was born, I became the director because I was part of the writing process, and I didn’t want to hand it over. I was like, oh, okay. I have to direct this. I’m not quite there yet on BRZRKR. I have to read the script, but I’m also interested in having a collaborator and what they could bring to it.” Whether Reeves eventually takes up the role of director remains in the balance for now, but the actor’s commitment to projects is commendable so we wouldn’t be surprised if it happens. The Netflix movie will also be accompanied by an anime series. Production I.G. is on animation duty, having previously handled such projects as Ghost In The ShellGuilty CrownEden Of The East, Psycho-Pass, and Haikyu!!.  We still don’t have a firm release date for this one but we’ll bring you more news, including Reeves’ role within all of it,  as we hear it.
