The Greek auteur is at it again! Here’s the first trailer for Kinds Of Kindness, Yorgos Lanthimos’ first film after Poor Things.
It’s only been a few weeks since Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things took home several Oscars, including Best Actress for Emma Stone. You’d think that the Greek director would like a little break, but there’s no rest for the wicked – or, more to the point, for Lanthimos either.
We reported a while back that Kinds Of Kindness, which seems to have been previously titled And, was set as Lanthimos’ next film and that it would take the form of an anthology. The film has changed its title to Kinds Of Kindness, and we’ve now got a very brief teaser trailer ahead of the film’s June release.

It doesn’t give us much, but what it does show seems intriguing enough.
In an interview with Mark Kermode for The Guardian, Lanthimos described the project as “a contemporary film, set in the US – three different stories, with four or five actors who play one part in each story, so they all play three different parts.”
Here’s the official synopsis from a press email that slid into Film Stories’ inbox: “Kinds Of Kindness is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”
This will be Lanthimos’ third collaboration with Emma Stone after The Favourite and Poor Things. Stone is also rumoured to star in Lanthimos’ next film after Kinds Of Kindness, Save The Green Planet. You can read more about that project here.
Kinds Of Kindness also stars Jesse Plemons (soon to be seen in Alex Garland’s brutal and visceral Civil War), Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie and Hunter Schafer.
The film is heading to US cinemas on 21st June, arriving in the UK a week later on 28th June.
