One half of the Coen Brothers is set to make his sort-of solo directorial debut with an as yet untitled road trip movie. The Coen Brothers’ last film as a directorial duo was 2018’s The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Since then, the pair haven’t worked together, although Joel has made a film on his own, that being last year’s The Tragedy Of Macbeth. Now, Ethan is set to take on a solo directing role too, helming an as yet untitled road trip movie that has been set up at Working Title and Focus Features. Whilst the project, believed to be an exploitation-style road trip movie, has yet to receive an official title, we do now know who the leads will be. Blockers’ Geraldine Viswanathan will star opposite Maids’ Margaret Qualley. Both actors are up and coming, yet have impressed in the projects in which they have featured. Viswanathan also featured in Bad Education whilst Qualley got an Emmy nomination for her part in the Netflix limited series, Maid.  Both actors have sharp comic talents too, but it remains unclear as to just what tone the film will strike. All that is really known for sure is that Coen co-wrote the script Tricia Cooke. Plans are set to shoot the project this autumn. We’ll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
