1987ā€™s Lethal Weapon is arriving on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray later this year: more details on the new release right this way.

Warner Bros continues to mine its back catalogue of titles really rather well, and also support physical media too. The latest case in point: Richard Donner’s 1987 favourite Lethal Weapon is heading to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, and it’s just gone up for preorder.

There are gaps in the information at the moment. No release date has been announced yet, although the expectation now is that the film will be landing this side of the summer. Furthermore, it’s unclear if we’re getting any fresh extra features either. We are getting both the theatrical and the director’s cut of the film, though.

And we are definitely getting the original Lethal Weapon on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format for the first time. So far, the Steelbook edition is available to order.

You can find more information on the release, and order yourself a copy, here.

There are no known plans for the rest of the Lethal Weapon films to make the jump to 4K disc at the moment, but presumably if Mel Gibson gets Lethal Weapon 5 going, that’ll shift things along. He’s very busy sorting out Hollywood for Donald Trump at the moment, though.

Hereā€™s the synopsis for Lethal Weapon. Weā€™ll update this post with a release date once we get itā€¦

Relive the legendary buddy-cop classic in 4K UHD for the first time, with the Theatrical and Directorā€™s Cut!

Written by Shane Black and directed by Richard Donner, Lethal Weapon is the thrill-packed story of two Vietnam vets-turned-cops (Mel Gibson and Danny Glover) who have just one thing in common: both hate to work with partners. But their partnership becomes key to their survival when a routine murder investigation leads to an all-out, take-no-prisioners, martial-arts-and-machine-guns war with an international heroin ring. Fierce, fast and frequently funny, it fires off round after round of canā€™t-miss entertainment.
