Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse are in love – and undead – in Zelda Williams’ feature directorial debut. Check out the Lisa Frankenstein trailer below:

What do you get if you take the writer of Jennifer’s Body, a bit of Warm Bodies and the costume notes from Sweeney Todd?

Lisa Frankenstein, apparently. Just in time for Halloween, Zelda Williams’ new neon-flecked, zom-rom-com has unveiled its first trailer.

Check it out below:

Alongside the trailer, Focus Features have given us a helpful synopsis. Want to know what the film’s about? This bit’s for you:

“A coming of RAGE love story from acclaimed writer Diablo Cody (Jennifer’s Body) about a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness…and a few missing body parts along the way.”

Starring Kathryn Newton (Freaky, Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania) and Cole Sprouse (RiverdaleThe Suite Life On Deck) as the titular Lisa and her monster respectively, the trailer shows off a bit of a Burton-esque costuming department, some axe-based action and a whole load of lovely neon. The whole couple on a killing spree plot also reminds us a bit of 1988’s Heathers – and that’s not a comparison we make lightly…

AKA, it looks like a lot of fun.

Lisa Frankenstein is set for a romantic 9th February release date in the US – just in time, as the trailer points out, for Valentine’s Day. Consider us on board.
