More signs that TRON 3 will finally be shooting next year, as the crew for the film starts to come together: more details here.
After 2010’s TRON: Legacy, there’s been no shortage of stories about a possible revival for the series. Yet given the expense of that particular movie, Disney instead opted to make superhero films and live action takes on its animated features for a bit instead.
Yet the demands of Disney+ have opened its eyes again to a broader range of material, and a third TRON film – going by the name TRON: Ares – is currently in development. What’s more, it appears to be actually moving forward this time.
TheDisinsider has a good track record when it comes to Disney stories, and it’s reporting that a production team is coming together for the new movie. Patrice Vermette – who’s been working on Dune – is set to be production designer on the film, with Garth Davis directing. Jared Leto is still linked with the lead role.
Filming is currently set to get underway next summer, but inevitably there’s a lot of pre-production work on a film of this ilk. We’ll finally believe it’s happening when the first shot is in the can…
