Killer doll M3gan will return, presumably in another blaze of memes, in early 2025 it’s been confirmed.

It won’t surprise anybody that Blumhouse and Atomic Monster have revealed the return of M3gan, the killer doll that has dominated social media trends of late, not to mention starring in a hugely successful movie that has garnered critical acclaim and resounding commercial success.

Akela Cooper, the writer of the first film is returning to pen the sequel whilst the producers are also reportedly hoping to tie up the services of Gerard Johnstone, the first film’s director. Actors, Allison Williams and Violet McGraw are also on board to return in the sequel.

The film, which cost just $12m to make is coming up on the $100m mark at the global box office, making it one of 2023’s earliest stories of box office success. Whilst the strong reviews are of course a factor, the film has really been helped by a smart marketing campaign from Universal who have managed the enviable feat of achieving what the people in expensive suits call ‘virality’. No idea.

Capturing the attention of the Tik Tok generation is something that is notoriously difficult to do, yet the marketing team behind M3gan have managed it and it has paid off handsomely, with the film’s impressive haul having being bolstered by a post-production switch to PG-13 to make sure that a younger audience could access a film which had clearly fired their imagination.

You can catch our review of the film, which is currently in UK cinemas, right here. We’ll bring you more on M3gan 2.0 as we hear it.
