A new look, a new film and a new trailer. That must mean that M3GAN 2.0 is almost upon us. More here…
Killer doll M3gan is set to return this month, presumably in another blaze of memes that will break the internet if the last time was anything to go by.
It didn’t surprise anybody when Blumhouse and Atomic Monster commissioned the return of M3gan, the killer doll that has dominated social media trends in 2023, powering interest in the hugely successful movie as it earned good reviews on the way to becoming a resounding commercial success.
Akela Cooper, the writer of the first film, has returned to pen the sequel as has Gerard Johnstone, the first film’s director. Actors, Allison Williams and Violet McGraw are also on board to return in the sequel. Here’s the synopsis:
Two years have passed since M3GAN went rogue and embarked on a murderous rampage and was subsequently destroyed. M3GAN’s creator Gemma (Allison Williams) has become a high-profile author and advocate for government oversight of artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Gemma’s niece Cady (Violet McGraw), now 14, has become a teenager and is rebelling against Gemma’s overprotective rules. At the same time, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade lethal infiltration spy known as Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno).
If you’ve always wondered what Terminator 2:Judgment Day looks like when retooled for the Tik Tok generation then look no further, because M3GAN 2.0 has arrived. Whether Universal can market the film as effectively as it did last time remains to be seen. Capturing lightning in a bottle once is tricky, but managing to do it twice would be something to behold.
Whether or not our (other) favourite killer doll goes viral again upon the film’s rlelease, we’ll soon find out when the film releases on the 27th June. Then we just settle in and wait for the inevitable Child’s Play/M3GAN team-up film… here’s the trailer for M3GAN 2.0 below.
