Special effects veteran John Richardson is releasing a second book based on his work around blockbuster franchises.
John Richardsonās first book, the best selling Making Movie Magic, was released in 2019. It chronicled Richardsonās career in special effects and stunts, creating onscreen magic in the Harry Potter series, pyrotechnics galore for James Bond and sending Superman skyward. He has been Oscar nominated six times, with his work on James Cameronās Aliens winning him the gong in 1986.
His new book, Making Movie Magic: The Photographs, came about more as a fortuitous accident, when he found a treasure trove of photographs whilst having a clear out during lockdown. It transpired that many of these photographs have never been seen by the public before. Not only are Harry Potter and James Bond included, but there are also rare photographs from the sets of Willow, A Bridge Too Far and The Omen, as well as Aliens and many more.
With a forward by Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, it should be worth checking out. Richardsonās first book was terrific.
Making Movie Magic: The Photographs will be published via The History Press on the 30th October and can be pre-ordered here
