Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro will star in Killers Of The Flower Moon.
Now that The Irishman is finally out into the world, director Martin Scorsese is free to concentrate on his next project – notwithstanding the awards lobbying he’s still got to do – and filming is set to begin on it this coming March.
The movie is Killers Of The Flower Moon, that’s based on the novel of the same name by David Grann (who also wrote The Lost City Of Z). The film will see Scorsese uniting with both Robert De Niro for the ninth time and Leonardo DiCaprio for the sixth time. News of its March start date was originally broken by Collider in December (who in turn learned the fact from cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, who will be shooting his fifth Scorsese picture). News of De Niro’s casting has more recently been confirmed.
The synopsis of the novel itself reads…
From the bestselling author of The Lost City of Z comes a true-life murder story which became one of the FBI’s first major homicide investigations.
In the 1920s, the richest people per capita in the world were members of the Osage Indian nation in Oklahoma. After oil was discovered beneath their land, they rode in chauffeured automobiles, built mansions and sent their children to study in Europe.
Then, one by one, the Osage began to be killed off. As the death toll climbed, the FBI took up the case. But the bureau badly bungled the investigation. In desperation, its young director, J. Edgar Hoover, turned to a former Texas Ranger named Tom White to unravel the mystery. Together with the Osage he and his undercover team began to expose one of the most chilling conspiracies in American history.
No word on a release date as of yet, but we’d guess we’re looking at 2021 for this one. More as we hear it.
