The new The Thomas Crown Affair seems to be finally be moving ahead, with a writer hired and the studio keen to move towards production.
Michael B Jordan has been attached to a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair since 2016 or so, but with a full slate as both an actor and producer (as well as a move into directing beckoning with the upcoming Creed 3), heās a fairly popular fellow. Heās also popular with movie audiences too though, and because of that MGM is keen to get its remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, with Jordan starring, finally off the ground. As such, itās hired a writer, news that means hopefully, the project is finally moving.
Wes Tooke, the writer of Midway, has signed on to scribe the project, joining Jordan and the Russo brothers, who will be producing alongside Jordanās production company, Outlier Society. Hopefully, this one will get moving quickly and weāll see a third incarnation of the film that matches the quality of both the McQueen/Dunaway and Brosnan/Russo incarnations.
The chemistry between the two leads was a crucial element in the previous two films, as an art-stealing playboy comes up against a sharp insurance investigator, so itāll be interesting to see who signs up opposite Jordan. Weāll bring you that news as we hear it.
