Michael Fassbender and Domhnall Gleeson will headline the film adaptation of Night Boat To Tangier, and here are the first details.

Night Boat To Tangier by Kevin Barry was longlisted for the 2019 Booker Prize and was featured in the New York Times Top 10 Books Of The Year, so it is unsurprising that the film rights have now been snapped up.

The plot “follows Maurice and Charlie, a colourful pair of gangsters from Ireland. Drug-smugglers, partners with a long history of violence and intertwined personal lives, they’re back in southern Spain re-visiting old haunts, old flames and dangerous local criminals, searching for Maurice’s estranged daughter, Dilly”.

Michael Fassbender (pictured here in Alien: Covenant, out now on disc and digital platforms), Domhnall Gleeson and Ruth Negga will headline the film.

James Marsh, who won an Oscar for 2008’s documentary Man On Wire will direct from a script adapted by Barry himself.

We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
