A documentary about filmmaker Robert Downey Sr. is coming to Netflix – and it’s been produced by his son.
Although legions of Marvel fans know Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, or another generation who might know him as Charlie Chaplin in Richard Attenborough’s 1992 film, he comes from a fine filmmaking lineage.
Sr. will examine the life and career of Robert Downey Sr, a renowned indie filmmaker who became part of the counterculture of the 60s and 70s with films like New York advertising satire Putney Swope.
The new documentary film was shot over the course of three years and it examines Downey’s art and the life with which it was deeply intertwined, including an intimate examination of his relationship with his son, Robert Downey, Jr.
Downey Jr. produced the film with his wife and creative partner Susan Downey.
Sr. Will be released on Netflix on the 2nd December. Watch the trailer below…
