Catch another look at next month’s The Fall Guy, which has everything apart from Ryan Gosling singing. Here’s the new trailer:
Following his performance of I’m Just Ken at this month’s Oscars, Ryan Gosling is set to play another take on the ‘I’m just an overlooked dude’ character, this time as the amazingly-named Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy.
A new trailer has having landed for the action romance, out next month. And along with a Gosling voiceover – and a one-liner that raised our anticipation threefold – it looks like we’ll be seeing him do lots of stunt work as he portrays TV’s most famous fictional stuntman. It’s a big screen reimagining of the 1980s television show that starred The Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors.
The show, from producer Glen A Larson (Battlestar Galactica, Knight Rider) followed Majors’ stuntman, Seavers, as a movie stuntman by day while getting embroiled in off-screen adventures by night as he pursued bail jumpers.
Majors famously (or perhaps infamously depending on your point of view) sang the theme song for the show, one of the better TV theme songs in a decade that was stuffed with classics. We don’t know yet if Gosling will be bringing his singing talents to bear on this one, but hopefully in a year’s time at the Oscars we can look forward to a Gosling/Majors duet of The Fall Guy.
Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Stephanie Hsu, Winston Duke and Hannah Waddingham co-star in the film which comes from Bullet Train director David Leitch.
Here’s a synopsis:
‘Having left the business a year earlier to focus on both his physical and mental health, [Colt] is soon drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie goes missing, a film being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno (Blunt). While the film’s ruthless producer (Waddingham), tries to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Taylor-Johnson) a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces.’
The tone certainly follows the same jokey/action formula as Bullet Train. This time, however, we imagine that Leitch will be drawing heavily on his extensive background as a stunt performer to shed some light on what it’s like to be the anonymous ‘fall guy’ who takes all the risks while somebody else gets all of the credit.
The film is set to release on the 3rd May. Here’s that trailer below.
