Are you a small Peruvian bear struggling with the London climate? Have we got the wet weather gear for you…
With Paddington’s third big-screen outing, Paddington In Peru, coming to UK cinemas in November, our ursine excitement is reaching fever pitch. Quite literally: we can’t stop shivering, and that thermometer hasn’t looked that high since we used it to stir our homemade marmalade.
Thankfully, an upcoming auction at Propstore could have us covered (in more ways than one). On 14th November, attendees of the Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in London will compete via the medium of cold hard cash for Paddington’s original duffel coat from the 2014 family classic. That should help stave off the Bear Flu for a few days.
Only seen briefly during the first film, when Julie Walters’ Mrs Bird takes it out of a cupboard, Paddington’s iconic garb is rendered in CGI for the rest of the series (the real Paddington is a bit of a diva, and refuses to wear actual human clothes, we’re told). Bidding starts at a cool £1,250, and is estimated to sell for up to £5,000.
It’s not the only piece of Paddington memorabilia up for auction, either. Other items on sale include Olivia Coleman’s guitar from Paddington In Peru and our young bear’s suitcase (ft. silicone marmalade sandwiches) from Paddington 2. Donated by StudioCanal, all profits from the coat and other items will go to children’s charity UNICEF UK.
The marmalade memorabilia joins all manner of film, TV and music accoutrements up for sale at the Live Auction, including Tom Wilkinson’s thong from The Fully Monty and a decaying piece of Jabba The Hutt’s skin.
The Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction will take place in BAFTA Piccadilly and online from 14-17th November. The full catalogue of items on sale is available here.
