Adam Deacon’s long awaited second film is now confirmed for a release in the UK this year, thanks to a new deal with Paramount.
Adam Deacon made his directorial debut with the terrific Anuvahood back in 2011 (pictured). A spoof of the British urban genre, the film quickly found an audience, which has steadily built over the years.
After a long spell away from the industry, for reasons that have been well reported, Deacon is now back with the follow up, Sumotherhood.
Deacon directs, stars and has co-written the script with Michael Vu and actor Jazzie Zonzolo
Other cast members include returning stars Zonzolo and Richie Campbell, alongside Jennifer Saunders, Danny Sapani, Ed Sheeran, Leomie Anderson, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, London Hughes, Peter Serafinowicz, Ella VaDay and Jaime Winstone.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Paramount Pictures have recently acquired the film and will release it in UK cinemas later in 2023.
UPDATE: We now have confirmation that Sumotherhood will be released on November 24th 2023.
