Jackpot is no longer called Grand Theft Lotto, but here’s the first trailer for Paul Feig’s latest, starring Awkwafina and John Cena.
There’s plenty to look forward to in Paul Feig's latest directorial outing, which arrives in the middle of August on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service. We’ve got a leading trio of Shang-Chi himself, Simu Liu, along with his MCU co-star Awkwafina and John Cena.
We have to admit, we like the comic chops that the leading trio sport and we’re keen to see some of the comedic interplay that Feig has cooked up for them. Then there’s the synopsis for the film….
In the near future, a ‘Grand Lottery’ has been newly established in California – the catch: kill the winner before sundown to legally claim their multi-billion dollar jackpot. When Katie Kim (Awkwafina) moves to Los Angeles, she mistakenly finds herself with the winning ticket. Desperate to survive the hordes of jackpot hunters, she reluctantly joins forces with amateur lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy (John Cena) who will do everything in his power to get her to sundown in exchange for a piece of her prize. However, Noel must face off with his slick rival Louis Lewis (Simu Liu), who also seeks to collect Katie’s commission at all costs.
Everything is in place here for a good time and we’re hoping that’s what we’ll get when the film releases on Prime Video on 15th August.
The trailer is just below, although fair warning, at almost four minutes long it’s one of those previews that does show you plenty, perhaps too much.
Paul Feig will be reteaming with Amazon Studios again to bring us the sequel to 2018’s A Simple Favour. That’s already in post-production, ahead of a release next year.
For now, here’s that trailer for Jackpot…
