Netflix’s Peaky Blinders film is now officially in production with Cillian Murphy returning to his iconic role of Tommy Shelby.
We’ve been reporting on the Peaky Blinders film for quite some time now, so it’s really fun to be able to finally say that the film is finally, officially in production.
Filming of the new film has commenced and we’ve got a brand new image of Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy in character as Tommy Shelby to show too. You can see that at the top of the page and we’ve inserted a nice photo of Murphy and writer-producer Steven Knight on set together below.

“I’m thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II. The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders,” Knight commented.
Director Tom Harper said: “There’s a great feeling of anticipation and excitement amongst our outstanding cast and crew. We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point and believe this next chapter is going to deliver something extraordinary.”
Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan and Tim Roth will also appear alongside Murphy in undisclosed roles. Netflix also promises that more casting news will follow. There’s not much to report on Peaky Blinders film’s plot, which is being kept tightly under wraps, but we do know that the action will be taking place during World War II.
