The cast for Ridley Scott’s swords and sandals sequel Gladiator 2 looks increasingly impressive with each announcement.

We were already rather excited by the cast for Ridley Scott’s upcoming Gladiator 2 before today’s reports that Pedro Pascal would be joining the project. Now we’re feeling spoiled. Just in case you haven’t been keeping up, Ridley Scott is returning to the world of Gladiator, the historical action epic that sparked a wave of historical action movies upon its release back in 2000.

The cast announced for the film is pretty stellar thus far. Aftersun's Paul Mescal will lead the film, but if that’s not enough brilliant young talent for you, the excellent Barry Keoghan will also feature.

Stranger Things’ Joseph Quinn is also in the line-up too. Adding some stately class to the movie is none other than Denzel Washington whilst Connie Nielsen is set to return as Lucilla, the sister of Commodus, who was memorably portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix (who will not be returning). Also, the brilliant Djimon Hounsou is also expected to reprise his role from the first film.

Frankly, we were very happy with that cast but now we hear that none other than Pedro Pascal is in talks to appear in the film.

Pascal of course, is an actor beloved by genre fans for his wonderful turns in shows like The Mandalorian, The Last Of Us and Game of Thrones. No word yet on what Pascal’s role will be but his addition beefs up what is one of the most exciting blockbuster casts on the upcoming slate.

The film is currently in production and has been penned by regular Scott collaborator, David Scarpa who also penned All The Money In the World and the duo’s upcoming Napoleon movie. We’ll bring you more on Gladiator 2 as we hear it.
