The Prime Video series returns to Amazon’s streaming service on 15th December – here’s the Reacher season two trailer…

Alan Ritchson’s Jack Reacher returns for a second season, and it looks like he’ll continue the trend of being dragged into dangerous situations he’d rather avoid. The first trailer for season two has just dropped. It won’t be long until it drops on Prime Video, either, with it arriving on 15th December.

The story spans eight episodes, with Reacher getting caught in the crossfire once again. This time, he and his former military cohorts, known as the Special Investigators, are being hunted. They must also look into a case involving the death of their friend.

Based on the books by Lee Child, Reacher is the second attempt at adapting Child’s work for the screen. First came the 2012 and 2016 films starring Tom Cruise. While perfectly decent action movies, they were criticised by fans of the Jack Reacher novels for Cruise’s lack of resemblance to the physically imposing protagonist.

Ritchson matches that description, and puts that to good use in the first season and the new trailer. The trailer especially is full of him bashing people over the head, smashing car windows, slamming people in car doors and kicking in cars. Jack Reacher really doesn’t like cars.

While season one of the Amazon show adapted the first book in the series, The Killing Floor, the second is taking a jump forward. It’s based on the eleventh novel, Bad Luck And Trouble. Starring alongside Ritchson (who appeared in Fast X earlier this year) are Serinda Swan, Ferdinand Kingsley and Rory Cochrane.

Each tale in the Jack Reacher books is a stand alone story featuring different characters, and the show is also following that format. Characters from season one, including Malcolm Goodwin’s (eventually) likeable Police Chief Oscar Finlay, won’t appear in season two.
