The remake of Road House has added a number of cast members as production begins – including Joaquim de Almeida and Darren Barnet.

This one seems to be moving ahead at quite a pace. It was only a few weeks ago that we got confirmation it was happening with Jake Gyllenhaal and UFC fighter Conor McGregor set to star, the latter making his acting debut.

Starring alongside them are Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.

Now, further cast members have been announced. Joaquim de Almeida, Darren Barnet, Kevin Carroll and JD Pardo are the new additions.

The new film is set to follow similar beats to the original, with the twist that instead of the almost mythical origins of Patrick Swayze’s Dalton, this time around Gyllenhaal is playing a former UFC fighter who gets hired to clean up a bar in the Florida Keys.

Joel Silver is producing, with The Nice Guys’ Anthony Bagarozzi co-writing the script with Charles Mondry and The Bourne Identity’s Doug Liman directing.

No release date has yet been confirmed, but it’s currently shooting in the Dominican Republic and will ultimately stream worldwide on Amazon Prime Video.
