Channing Tatum is living in a Toys’R’Us in Derek Cianfrance’s Roofman – and the first trailer has landed. More here.

There’s plenty of reasons to be excited about the upcoming release of Roofman in October not least because the film looks set to feature Channing Tatum in full charm offensive mode. After all, how else are we supposed to get behind the film’s lead character, an escpaped convict who hides out in a toy shop at night and robs McDonalds to get by?

There’s plenty more to like here too: the supporting cast boasts one of the most promising ensembles that you’ll find this year. The wonderful Kirsten Dunst co-stars whilst Peter Dinklage, Uzo Aduba, Juno Temple, LaKeith Stanfield, Ben Mendelsohn, Melonie Diaz, Tony Revolori, and Jimmy O. Yang all feature in the film too. Tatum and Dunst as a romantic pairing rings with potential and if everybody on board here brings their best, Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn’s script could really sing.

Don’t forget that Derek Cianfrance factor either.

This is the filmmaker who has brought us several absolute gems over the years, including Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond The Pines. It’s been nine years since he made 2016’s The Light Between Oceans, and although he’s since been attached to the odd project (such as this year’s Wolf Man, eventually taken on by Leigh Whannell), nothing ever came to fruition.

This one is heading our way in October which could even mean that Paramount fancies it for an awards run, we’ll have to wait and see on that front. We’ll leave you with the trailer below but this one is high on our list for autumn movies and a quick look at the trailer has only stoked the fires of our anticipation.
