Long running BBC documentary series imagine dedicates an episode to writer Russell T Davies, and we now have a confirmed airdate.
There is no denying that Doctor Who fans have a lot to thank Russell T Davies for, not least resurrecting the show in such spectacular fashion in 2005. Even to that point though, Daviesā body of work was already worthy of conversation and appreciation. Now that body of work is to go under the microscope too.
Thatās because Russell T Davies ā who has re-taken on the role of Doctor Who boss of course ā is to be the subject of an episode of documentary series imagine.
imagineā¦Russell T Davies: The Doctor and Me will be broadcast on BBC One at 22.40 on the 18th December itās now been confirmed.
It will not only take viewers behind the scenes of the current run of Doctor Who at Bad Wolf Studios, but it will also take a deep dive into Daviesā storied career, from his beginnings in childrenās television, where he penned episodes of ChuckleVision before making his mark with Dark Season and Century Falls, right through to landmark success Queer As Folk (and who remembers the ending of that?!), the likes of Bob And Rose and The Second Coming right up to date with Itās A Sin.

Hopefully it spares some time for arguably Daviesā most underappreciated work too, the extraordinary Cucumber, which still feels like the show that never got the attention or recognition it actually deserved.
Helena Bonham Carter, Olly Alexander, Sally Wainwright and Caitlin Moran will also feature in the BBC documentary, incidentally, which will make its way to the iPlayer service as per normal as well.
The running time is currently marked down for an hour and 14 minutes, so a fair amount of time to explore Daviesā body of work.
