Saw franchise veteran Shawnee Smith has reportedly signed up for the tenth installment of the horror saga.
Saw 10 is becoming increasingly nostalgic in its casting, with Deadline reporting the news that Shawnee Smith, who played victim turned apprentice Amanda Young in the franchise , has signed on to star alongside Tobin Bell’s John Kramer/Jigsaw in the new film.
Quite how they will fit into the plot is unclear given that both characters perished a lot earlier in the franchise, though given the films’ notoriously complex timeline and propensity for flashbacks, horror fans are eager to see the actors in newly filmed footage.
Other cast members newly announced include Synnøve Macody Lund, Steven Brand and Michael Beach
It’s a similar story behind the camera too, as franchise veteran Kevin Greutert — who helmed Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter, and edited Saw I through V and Jigsaw – is directing from a screenplay by Jigsaw and Spiral: From The Book Of Saw writers Josh Goldberg and Peter Goldfinger.
