Star-studded tale of Old Hollywood excess Babylon has revealed its first trailer, and you can see it right here.
Take that trademark Damien Chazelle energy, throw in a classic tale of Hollywood excess, sprinkled with a starry cast, a dash of musical numbers and a glorious Brad Pitt pratfall and you have the trailer for Babylon. The film, which is set to release at the tail-end of this year is currently in post-production, but the La La Land and Whiplash director unveiled a trailer this week at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film is said to be ‘a tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in 1920s Hollywood as the industry undergoes a treacherous transition between silent and ‘talkie’ films.’
The cast is stacked with talent including Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie Diego Calva, Olivia Wilde, Samara Weaving, Li Jun Li, Jean Smart and Tobey Maguire.
With a December release planned, Babylon is going to be a surefire talking point, not least among Academy types who love a good Hollywood story. Whilst it’s far too early too tell yet, we hope this one can live up to its billing and produce a show-stopping cinematic finale to the year. More on Babylon as we hear it.
