Whoopi Goldberg returns, and the creator of the High School Musical TV series is on board too, as Sister Act 3 takes a sizeable step forward.
Nearly 30 years after Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit failed to climb the same box office heights as its predecessor, the Sister Act franchise is returning to the screen. This time it’s for Disney+, and Whoopi Goldberg has been lured back to headline the new movie. She’s also going to produce whatever Sister Act 3 eventually ends up being called, along with Tyler Perry.
Now we learn that Tim Federle will be taking on the director’s chair for the third movie. He’s the creator of High School Musical: The Musical, so already has form with Disney. Furthermore, Madhuri Shekar – who wrote Evil Eye – has been hired to take a pass at the screenplay for the project.
We’d imagine Disney’s going to be looking to get the film moving sooner rather than later, and we’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
