Rachel Zegler stars as Snow White in Disney’s live action reimagining. Here’s the official trailer for the film. We wouldn’t post an unofficial one.
Rachel Zegler burst onto the scene as the star of Steven Spielberg’s 2021 remake of West Side Story, for which she won a Golden Globe. After appearing in Shazam! Fury Of The Gods and The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds & Snakes, she now stars as the title character in Disney’s live action reimagining of Snow White. The original, made in 1937, is the first ever feature length animated film.
The synopsis for the new version now reads as follows:
Snow White is a live-action musical reimagining of the classic 1937 movie. The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy.
Actor Peter Dinklage criticized Disney’s decision to remake the film back in 2022, calling it “backwards” and saying ” I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. You’re still telling the story of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there”, before using some rather colourful language to describe his feelings about the concept of dwarves used in a fantasy context in the modern day.
Zegler stars alongside Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, Andrew Burnap as Jonathan, Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Dujonna Gift as Maple, and Martin Klebba as Grumpy.
Marc Webb directed the film ftom a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
The next Disney live action film is a prequel to Disney’s The Lion King called Mufasa: The Lion King. Directed by Barry Jenkins and written by Jeff Nathanson, it will be released on the 20th December.
Snow White will be released in UK cinemas on 21st March 2025.
