Respawn, maker of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, is reportedly making a first-person Mandalorian videogame based next.
Respawn Entertainment knows its way around the Star Wars universe, having made the successful Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and 2023ās sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
According to a report published by Insider Gaming, though, Respawn is currently working on a slightly different type of Star Wars game ā this one featuring a Mandalorian bounty hunter.
Said to be in the āearly stages of development, the game will be viewed from the first-person ā distinguishing it from the Star Wars Jedi titles, which were third-person Soulslikes ā and will have players zipping around the galaxy, ācapturing bounties dead or alive for cash rewards.ā
Players will also reportedly have access to all the Mandalorian gadgets, most obviously a jetpack, which will allow for the kind of sprightly movements seen in Respawnās own Titanfall 2 and Apex Legends. Other weapons and doodads are said to include a wrist rocket and grappling hook.
The other big Lucasverse game on the horizon is Star Wars Outlaws, in development at Ubisoft, which will be a big, open-world adventure set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. If Insider Gamingās report is accurate, then Respawnās Mandalorian game will distinguish itself from Outlaws with more linear levels ā said to be set on multiple planets ā and action intended to be āfast-pacedā, with the player subtly encouraged to complete missions quickly.
What isnāt clear is whether the game will be directly connected to The Mandalorian, the hit Disney+ series that first began streaming in 2020. Given thereās a movie spin-off based on that show in the works ā The Mandalorian And Grogu ā having a videogame tie-in released around the time would certainly sound logical.
Respawnās secretive Mandalorian game is said to be about a year or two along from completion, so weāll be sure to bring you more as we hear it.
