A film that lost its distribution when Cineworld shut its doors has turned things around – here’s the trailer and more info on Stealing Chaplin.

What looked one of the many films to suffer from the news that Cineworld and Picturehouse has closed its screens down for the rest of the year is the comic crime caper Stealing Chaplin.

The film had been booked into 33 Cineworld cinemas around the UK, and those plans evaporated when the people behind the movie found out at pretty much the same time as everyone else that this would no longer be happening.

Thankfully, there’s a happier ending to this story, as the filmmakers have sorted a release themselves with no distributor involved. The movie now plays in Empire Cinemas around the UK this weekend, and it looks a whole lot of fun.

Directed by Paul Tanter and produced by Ken Bressers, the film follows a pair of Las Vegas conmen who have a plan to dig up the body of Charlie Chaplin, in order to ransom it. The plan doesn’t not quite go the way they are expecting.

Simon Phillips, Doug Phillips, Peter Woodward, Al Sapienza and Wayne Newton lead the cast. And you can see the trailer for the movie right here…

It’s playing around the UK from today.
