Details are still firmly under wraps for Steve McQueen’s return to the big screen, following his Small Axe anthology for the BBC. A few details have emerged regarding director Steve McQueen’s next project, which will be titled Blitz. As you might expect, McQueen will be writing, directing and producing the project, which will be an original story. That’s unlike his last feature film, Widows, which was based on the Linda La Plante novel and its subsequent TV show. Speaking of Widows, McQueen will be working with production company New Regency once more, the company who backed that film, as well as his Oscar-winning feature 12 Years a Slave. Blitz will mark McQueen’s first return to feature film making since Widows,as since then he has been focused on creating his Small Axe anthology of films for the BBC, as well as working on several documentaries. We’ll bring you more details on Blitz, including plot and casting, as we hear them, but as one of the UK’s most powerful filmmakers, a new Steve McQueen project is always something to look forward to.
