Potentially one of the final physical media releases to bear the Warner Bros 100th anniversary celebration logo, Steven Spielberg’s film adaptation of Alice Walker’s book The Color Purple is on its way to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for the end of the year. It comes ahead of the cinematic release of a new adaptation of Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, with Spielberg’s take on the material dating back to 1985. Steven Spielberg’s 1985 cinematic adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Color Purple brings the unforgettable story and characters to life with a talented cast. Whoopi Goldberg delivers a remarkable debut performance as Celie, who defies cruelty with love and finds joy in a closed-off world.
The release come with both a 4K disc and a Blu-ray in the box, which suggests that previously published extra features will be carried over. We’re not expecting any new material to be added, in line with how Warner Bros catalogue releases have primarily gone this year.
