Jeff Nichols’ ensemble-driven drama The Bikeriders has a brand new trailer ahead of its June release. More here.

Universal Pictures in the midst of building anticipation for The Bikeriders back up, ahead of the film’s release in late June. The Bikeriders was originally slated to release last December in the US, although no UK date ever emerged. Given that the film boasts an impressive ensemble of acting talent, it seems that Disney-owned 20th Century Studios was spooked by last year’s actors’ strike and opted to remove the film from its release slate entirely.

The Bikeriders eventually reappeared, now with Focus handling distribution in the US and Universal taking care of the UK release. The film is set for a release this summer. Jeff Nichols directs his first film in eight years, and given that he helmed the excellent Mud and the equally excellent Take Shelter, there’s good reason to look forward to this one.

There’s also a talented ensemble cast, most of whom will be looking cool and rebellious as they zoom around on motorcycles. Tom Hardy, Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Michael Shannon – the latter having appeared in Nichols’ Take Shelter and his under-seen sci-fi road trip movie, Midnight Special all star.

The story is set ‘in the 1960s and follows Kathy, a strong-willed member of the Vandals who is married to a wild, reckless bike rider named Benny. She recounts the club’s evolution over the course of a decade from a group of local outsiders led by the strong Johnny to something more dangerous and sinister.’

The trailer is a more upbeat one than the last glimpse we got of the film. Unsurprisingly, it starts by foregrounding that raft of acting talent. Pencil this one in for 21st June and until then, here’s that trailer below.
