For its 20th birthday, The Core is being treated to a 4K remaster – and the film is heading to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK this very March.
In a year full of major film anniversaries – The Exorcist is 50, Jurassic Park is 30, The Truman Show is 25 – Paramount Pictures has decided to get a few party poppers in for bonkers 2003 sci-fi effects fest The Core. And for its 20th birthday, it’s coming to the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format for the very first time.
The Core, if you’ve not caught it, sees Hilary Swank – two Oscars! – leading a bunch of seemingly randomly scattered together people, who have the job of trying to get to, er, the core of the Earth to launch a nuclear weapon. Hush hush, it’s all explained in the film.
Jon Amiel directs, fun is had, and now you can see it in tip-top resolution from March 13th 2023, when the 4K disc goes on sale. No sign of fresh extras though, so you may have to get some Pringles in or something to keep the 20th birthday side of it going.
More information on the release can be found here, where you can order a copy too.
