1990s slasher franchise I Know What You Did Last Summer is getting a reboot, and several of the original cast are returning.
Kevin Williamson was one of those instrumental in reviving horror cinema back in the mid-1990s, with his scripts for Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. With the sixth instalment of the former franchise due in cinemas next month, it’s now been revealed that a reboot of the latter is on the way.
The original 1997 film followed a group of teenagers targeted by a hook wielding killer who allegedly knows that they covered up a car accident that they think killed a man. It helped launch the careers of Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe. Sequels followed in 1998 and 2006.
Now, a legacy sequel has been announced. Currently untitled, original stars Hewitt and Prinze Jr. are in talks to return for the latest movie.
Do Revenge director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will helm the film from a screenplay by Leah McKendrick. Original producer Neal H. Moritz is also set to return.
There’s no timeline on this one as of yet, but we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
