Miranda Priestley will be demanding her coffee once again in May 2026 as The Devil Wears Prada sequel heads into cinemas.

What a time to be alive for fashionistas of the noughties who couldn’t get enough of Anne Hathaway’s transformation from a scruffy writer to a fashionable assistant in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada. We obsessed over the sequence of Hathaway’s Andy walking through the streets of New York, changing from one banging outfit into another via clever editing and some of us hated her boyfriend Nate with fiery passion, too.

Thankfully, there’s more fashion excellence coming our way. A new sequel for The Devil Wears Prada was announced last year and Disney has now granted the movie a release date. You can catch the sequel in cinemas from 1st May 2026, as revealed by Variety

By the time The Devil Wears Prada sequel hits your local Cineworld, it’ll have been 20 years since we last saw Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestley, the editor-in-chief of Runway Magazine, barks orders at Hathaway and Emily Blunt’s assistants.

Well, for me it’ll only have been less than a year because I watched the film a couple of weeks ago for the umpteenth time. And I’ll probably squeeze it at least once more. You should too, it’s great.

The premise for the film sounds intriguing and painfully relatable; Priestley still works in print media, which is an industry in decline – as is online journalism, it seems – and she’s forced to grovel to Blunt’s Emily, now a powerful executive who could finance Miranda’s troubles away.

There’s no word on whether Hathaway or Stanley Tucci would return for their roles. Curiously, there’s also no director attached quite yet, but we can expect that piece of news to drop imminently if The Devil Wears Prada sequel will indeed make it to cinemas next May.

The May cinema slot has just been freed by the delay of Avengers: Doomsday which has been moved to December 2026 from its original May release date. Similarly, the Marvel movie’s sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, was delayed to December 2027.

We’ll bring you more news on all things The Devil Wears Prada as we hear them. If you would like to be like Miranda and support print media, you can buy the latest issues of Film Stories and Film Junior right here
