Physical media collectors, we have some good news for you. The latest Marvel adventure – Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels, that is – has been confirmed for a glorious 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray release on 19th February.

If you don’t own a device that plays 4K discs, you can also order the film on DVD or Blu-Ray. Pre-order your preferred format here.

Earlier this week, we reported that The Marvels will be available to buy and rent on digital from next week. As you know, we’re big fans of physical media so the news of a disc release is most welcome in the Film Stories community.

The Marvels was the 33rd feature film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is currently facing some unprecedented challenges after the studio fired Jonathan Majors following a conviction for assault. Majors played the next big bad, Kang The Conqueror, in Loki and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and was teased as a Thanos-level threat for Marvel’s roster of super-powered individuals.

Things are very up in the air for Marvel currently and no one seems to know where the biggest cinematic universe in Hollywood is heading. With a Fantastic Four movie in Marvel’s future, many are suggesting that Doctor Doom replaces Kang as the next overarching villain.

The Marvels arrived at the tailend of a difficult year for Marvel as the audiences were growing tired of CGI superheroes and overly complicated, interconnected narratives. The film was met with lukewarm reviews and was considered a box office flop, grossing only $205 million worldwide. It’s currently the lowest grossing Marvel film, taking the title from The Incredible Hulk.

We still enjoyed the film and you can read our thoughts on it here
