Liam Neeson stars as Frank Drebin Jr in the new The Naked Gun film – and the new trailer has landed.
When Liam Neeson first revealed that he was in line to head up a new take on The Naked Gun he seemed resigned to the fact that it could go badly, stating back in 2021 that “It’ll either finish my career or bring it in another direction. I honestly don’t know.”
Here in 2025, we’re not too far from finding out if that’s the case given that Neeson’s new spin on the beloved cop spoof series – made famous by the late Leslie Nielsen’s wonderful comic talents – is just a few months away.
2025’s The Naked Gun is headed to cinemas on 1st August, courtesy of Paramount.
Now we have a full trailer to enjoy ahead of the film’s release, following on from the well-received teaser that arrived back in April. In this one you can expect to see Neeson riff on his Taken-era tough guy image whilst also enjoying some classic bufoonery that will bring back some fun nostalgia for the golden era of movie spoofs.
We really, really hope that the team behind the film are keeping most of their powder dry and storing the very best gags for the film itself. This trailer doesn’t seem to have gone down as well as the first.
Liam Neeson stars in the film as Detective Frank Drebin, with Paul Walter Hauser as his partner Ed. Kevin Durand is set to play the villain while Pamela Anderson and Danny Huston also have major roles. CCH Pounder, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and Eddie Yu co-star.
Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand are reuniting with that film’s director Akiva Schaffer on the film. Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing the new film.
