The cinematic universe of The Conjuring expands further with The Nun 2 – and it’s coming to cinemas in September 2023. Good news for fans of The Conjuring films and their spin-offs – The Nun 2 finally has a release date, and it’s 8th September 2023. The horror sequel will come to cinemas eight years after The Nun debuted in 2018. Taissa Farmiga will be returning as Sister Irene, as well as Bonnie Aarons as the titular demon (also known as Valak). The return of Farmiga confirms that the movie will be set in the same time period as the first one. Michael Chaves, director of The Curse Of La Llorona and The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It, will be helming The Nun 2, and Malignant writer Akela Cooper has penned the screenplay. The synopsis reads: “1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit The Nun follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face to face with the demonic force Valak – the demon nun.” Pretty standard stuff for this franchise, then. The creator of The Conjuring universe, James Wan, is co-producing the film alongside Peter Safran. This will be good news for fans of the series. Since directing, producing and co-writing The Conjuring 2, Wan has largely been responsible for the oversight of the film series. He has a producer credit on all of the movies released since Annabelle in 2014, and a story credit on various instalments. I suppose now we’re just waiting for more news on another The Conjuring spin-off – The Crooked Man.   ColliderThank you for visiting! If you’d like to support our attempts to make a non-clickbaity movie website: Follow Film Stories on Twitter here, and on Facebook here.
