James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster Avatar is returning to cinemas in 4K HDR as a re-release, and there’s a trailer to prove it.
We’re not quite sure the world needed a fresh trailer for the most successful standlone (for a few more months) movie of all time at the global box office. Still, with James Cameron furiously putting the finishing touches to Avatar: The Way Of Water, Disney is bringing his original film back to cinemas this September to refresh our memories.
The 2009 film will now be presented in 4K High Dynamic Range, and we’d imagine a home formats disc will be along the way in due course as well. For now, the film returns to the big screen on September 23rd. And here’s the trailer to announce its fresh outing…

The sequel toddles along at Christmas, and the sequel to that is a year behind it. Then there’s a sequel to that, and a sequel to that, but I’m not paid by the word so let’s leave it there.
