Eddie Murphy stars in The Pickup from director Tim Story: here’s the trailer for the upcoming August comedy.

Amazon MGM Studios has released a trailer for the action comedy The Pickup starring Eddie Murphy, Pete Davidson, and Keke Palmer.

The film sees ‘a routine cash pickup take a wild turn when two mismatched armoured truck drivers, Russell (Murphy) and Travis Pete (Davidson), are ambushed by ruthless criminals. The group is led by savvy mastermind Zoe (Palmer) who has plans that go way beyond the cash cargo.’

Eva Longoria, Marshawn Lynch, Joe ‘Roman Reigns’ Anoa’i, Andrew Dice Clay, and Ismael Cruz Córdova co-star while Barbershop's Tim Story directs the project which Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider have scripted.

Interestingly, Murphy has recently been talking about wanting to remake “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World next, along with a hall of fame ensemble of black comics”.

The actor told Far Out that: “There are a bunch of ideas that we have,” he said during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is an old movie from the ’60s that I want to remake and do with a who’s who of black comics. That’s what I wanted to do; that would be amazing…So, yeah, hopefully that comes together.”

It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World was a 1963 comedy directed by Stanley Kramer (Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner) and starring Spencer Tracy with plenty of notable names of the era including Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Ethel Merman, Micky Rooney, Jonathan Winters, Phil Silvers, Edie Adams, and Buddy Hackett. Were Murphy to remake the film, you can just imagine how many current comedy stars would be keen to line up alongside the comedy legend for a modern ensemble.

When we hear more news on that front, we’ll let you know but in the meantime, here’s the trailer for The Pickup below.
