One of DreamWorks Animation’s most enduring hits – The Prince Of Egypt – is coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK for the first time.

Even as DreamWorks Animation reportedly looks to change its working model around to outsource more of its work, one of the two films that kickstarted the company in the first place is celebrating its 25th birthday.

The Prince Of Egypt – which has gone on to become a stage musical –was the first hand-drawn animation film from the studio. It was a hugely ambitious, and impressive, attempt to tell the Bible story of Moses. Directed by Brenda Chapman, Steve Hickner and Simon Wells, the film also came with three soundtrack albums and a gigantic promotional push. Sitting at the cinema this weekend too, up pops a trailer for a big screen release of a filmed version of the aforementioned musical.

Anyway: as part of the 25th birthday celebrations comes the news that the film has been given a 4K makeover, and will be arriving on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in the UK as well.

The release is set for November 20th 2023, and you can find more details on it – and order a copy – right here.

As for what you get, it’s being billed as a limited edition, and as such, you get for your money: ‘Special Edition Including Slipcase & 5x Art cards Plus Bonus The Making Of The Prince Of Egypt “When You Believe” Multi-Language Presentation The Basics Of Animation: The Chariot Race – Focus On Technical Effects, Feature Commentary With Directors Brenda Chapman, Steve Hickner, And Simon Wells’.

Definitely not copied and pasted that bit from the listing though. You can count on me to type it out longhand for you.

Doesn’t look like there’s an additional Blu-ray in the box for this one, so it should all be on the 4K disc. It’s up for preorder now.
