The Golden Raspberry Awards show themselves for what they are, directing their venom at a 12-year old in their latest nominations.

Ordinarily, we don’t give oxygen to the Golden Raspberry Awards, more commonly known as the Razzies. What should exist as an opportunity to have some fun and prick the egos of Hollywood has turned into something that’s got an undercurrent of meanness.

Now, it’s decided to turn its ire on a 12-year old. Quite what Ryan Kiera Armstrong has done to get on the wrong side of its organisers is unclear, but she’s found herself nominated for worst actress for her work in the film Firestarter.

We’re not taking a bullet for the film itself, which isn’t shy of problems. But Ryan Kiera Armstrong is not one of them. Furthermore, what on earth is the Golden Raspberry organisation trying to do here? Who gains from punching down on a 12-year old?

On the very off-chance that Ryan Kiera Armstrong gets to read stories about this, then please know this: the Golden Raspberrys has long been revealed to be an absolute shitshow, and don’t let a bunch of people who should know better stop you from doing what you love. You got to take a lead role in a Hollywood movie before you were in your teens, and who else reading this can say that?

All power to you, no power to them. And it’s one in a list of reasons why we give the Razzies the barest of mentions on this site. They make the Golden Globes look classy.
